FIrst time mom...Is this a good mentu for a 4 year old?

Breakfast: Greek yogurt with Granola & 1/2 a banana
Snack: cantaloup cubes... like maybe 6 1 inch squares
Lunch: Mac and cheese with Peas and tuna (I know it's got sodium but it's cheap and we are broke)
Snack: 4 whole wheat crackers with a little Peanut butter
Dinner: 1 baked chicken thigh, pasta with Parm., spinach and cooked carrots
Dessert:Cantaloup squares...like maybe 4 of them.

That's 5 servings of fruit/veggie, 3 carbs, 3 proteins(two meat, one yogurt) 4 dairy with her 2 cups of milk, and no real sugars just what is in the fruit and yogurt... Is this pretty much okay. She's not fat I just want her to be healthy even though I can't afford to drop all the cheap food like pasta, dark meat and canned tuna.

  • Sounds really good to me. On a tight budget, you can't get much better. If you can, up her veggie intake - she (like everyone) should get more veggies than fruits. As long as it's a good variety though (lots of colors) it's good. If you can find a way to make/get lower sodium stuff (like the mac & cheese, and not sure about the pasta & parm - if it's a packet mix it's high sodium) that would really help. And lots of water!
