How many feedings should a 5 week old baby have in one day?

my 5 week old son is not eating well today any ideas

  • You don't go by numbers. You feed him when he's hungry. Babies don't eat because they're bored or anxious like adults do.

  • hes fine.. all babies cry when they are hungry im sure he will tell u... if u over feed a baby u can hurt them so just wait :)

  • i have been offering the bottle all day and he has only eaten 2 in the last 24 hours i am worried he normaly eats every 2 hours like clock work.

  • While I agree with the PPs, I wouldn't hesitate to ask his pediatrician. DD2 was eating every 2hrs on breastmilk during the day and sleeping 6-8hrs at night and never once indicated hunger between feeds, but she was hospitalized at 4mos for dehydration and malnourishment. Apparently I was just supposed to know that she wasn't getting adequate nutrition from breastmilk even though she never indicated hunger after feedings.
