  • She gets a story read to her every night, and has since she was 3 months.  It's the highlight of her day and is the reason she LOVES books.  She just as excited over a new book as a new toy.  Sometimes moreso.

  • I'm not sure what you mean by special occasion. As in getting them ready for bed in general because they fight bedtime? I don't know if that's what you mean. If that's it, then routine is important. Like bath, read a book, have a drink, brush teeth, get in bed. Whatever the routine is, being consistent helps. I like to lay with my son, tell him a little bedtime story that's usually a recap of the day, sing him a little song, kiss and hug him and tell him to sleep good and that I love him, and rub his back for a few minutes.
