Do you and your kids always have 3 meals a day, everyday?

im just curious what others do as far as mealtimes. i know my family almost always doesn't have a "normal" lunch. but my kids are big breakfast eaters, then they have a small morning snack like a piece of fruit and some fruit juice. so by lunchtime, they're not ready for a whole meal, and if i waited til they were, they wouldn't be hungry at dinnertime. so usually for lunch they eat something small like a yogurt, or half of a sandwich. the only time they eat a bigger lunch is if they didn't eat much at breakfast. it seems breakfast and dinner are our main meals around here. how about your family?

  • Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ... do you have teenagers? Mine eat roughly 8 times a day (full meals)! I'm like you, though, I only have coffee in the am (can't tolerate any food in the am) and I don't get hungry til about 2.

  • No. Rarely do we eat 3 square meals a day, but my kid def gets enough vitamins and minerals from the food he does eat, just not always in 3 meals a day.

  • We do. I make breakfast in the morning and pack lunch for my school littles. I sit down with my toddler at lunch. We come together as a family for dinner and then I pack my husband's lunch for the next day. Our lunch at home is sometimes just yogurt and carrot sticks with a piece of toast or something, but it's still a meal and covers the food groups.

  • My kids have 3 meals and snacks every day. Only very rarely, like if we're traveling or something, is the meal smaller and easier to eat on the go like fruit and a drink or some type of whole grains. I don't usually eat breakfast, I don't even like to think about eating until at least midmorning, then I have a small lunch and supper.

  • My kids always eat 3 meals (2 at sitters, 1 at home) my son will never let a meal time go by without eating. He is very on top of when it is supposed to be time to eat. I don't always eat 3 meals, if i am planning on having a bigger lunch, I will skip breakfast or if I have a big breakfast, I won't eat lunch.

  • My dd is 2 1/2 and she seems to eat one really good meal a day, sometimes she will eat well at two meals but if that's the case it usually means she'll eat a big breakfast and a big dinner but a light lunch. I always offer food at breakfast, lunch and dinner times, and then she usually has an afternoon snack. If she eats a light breakfast then she will usually eat all of her lunch and ask for seconds, but then she might pick at dinner. I figure if she is hungry she will eat what I offer and if not then she won't starve before the next time to eat.

  • My kids usually do, I never do.
Most of the time my kids have 3 meals but sometimes they skip a meal depending on what we are doing and when we eat. Like sometimes we'll get up late and go to brunch. Or we'll have a late lunch/early dinner while we're out. But most days they eat 3 meals.
I rarely ever eat breakfast. I don't normally eat until 11am at the earliest (which is lunchtime here). I've never eaten breakfast even when I was a kid. It messes up my blood sugar and throws me off all day. If I, say, eat at 7am with the kids I'll feel starving by 8:30-9am no matter what I eat. If I skip breakfast I feel find until lunchtime, no hunger at all.

  • Well when I am home the kids generally have cereal (my 8yr old son) and peanut butter toast (my 2 yr old dd) then I will make a big can of spaghettios or grilled cheese or noodles for lunch and I ALWAYS have a good dinner cooked every evening that we eat toghter at the dinner table

Now as far as when I am at work i dont think dds dad gives her anything besides milk (which we fight about ALOT) for breakfast and my son still eats cereal I think he makes them about the same things for lunch except he likes to make pizza for lunch alot too

But to answer your question, I make sure my kids ALWAYS eat 3 mostly square meals a day.
