What is the best way to keep bugs and animals away from fruit?

We bought 3 fruit plants. Blueberry, raspberry and strawberry.

  • word, mama: REEMAY ..they make garden blankets to cover your plants. both sun and water will still reach your plants, they can also breathe just fine underneath this covering. its ideal for keeping birds and bugs out.

  • It's best to target the pests specifically, but for a general defense, lightweight row covers work great (can also be used on non-row plantings). You can also get heavier weight row covers to protect against light frosts. For larger animals, some type of physical barrier works best, like a rabbit fence. Netting can be used on mature bushes & trees to keep birds away from the fruit. Companion planting can be done, too, to attract animals & insects away from your desired plants.
