  • Keep correcting her on the yelling and being bossy. Everything else? All you can really do it wait it out. It's toddlerhood.

  • At this age her behaviour reflects what she has learned from those closest to her. Monitor your own behaviour and work out when you raise your voice or criticise people. Make a strong effort to speak politely at all times, not just around children and old people. Instead try singing all day. Sing anything, radio songs, children's songs, showtime tunes, spirituals, anything. The act of singing around children, and it has to be live not recorded, actually changes the thought pattern in the brain of the growing child. It helps the singer too.

  • You cannot directly control what happens while you are out, but perhaps on a supervised play date you can bring home the point that other kids won't want to play with her if she is bossy. Make sure she isn't getting positive feedback from bad behavior at home. Check out books at the library that have a sharing and caring context. Encourage please and thank you, reward positive interactions.
