Is it appropriate to wear a black dress to a wedding?

I heard long long ago you should never wear black to a wedding but i want to wear my little black dress to my cousins wedding next month. But I wouldn't mind and excuse to buy a new dress :)

  • I wouldn't care if someone wore black to my wedding, as long as they didn't wear white I'm good :)

  • Better than wearing white to a wedding, unless you're the bride!!!!!!!!

  • Wearing the little black dress to a wedding is appropriate nowadays. A friend of mine is getting married for the 2nd time tomorrow. She has 2 bridesmaids and they are wearing black. One is her daughter and the other one is her groom's daughter. By the way, she is over 60 and she made both girls' dresses!

  • Not unless the couple specifies that you should.

  • No traditionally you should never wear black to a wedding because black is a sine of sadness if you wear black its like saying you are not happy about the wedding

  • Why not? Everyone at my xmas party wears black dresses and its not a sad occassion. I say, go for it!

  • Unless the bride specifically asks you to NOT wear black, it shouldn't be a problem. Unless it's an outdoor wedding...then you'll roast lol. I say go for it, but if you aren't sure, ask the bride.
