Any tips on keeping a dog from getting out of a pen again?

so appearantly our dog bear is smarter then what he puts on, i went outside to check on him and salem our other dog and bear wasnt there i called him and he came back to me.we have a tall fence its taller then him. i placed things where ithought he might of gotten out, they both have collars on them.any tips would help. thanks.

  • The only thing I can think of is to not leave them outside unattended. Maybe someone else will have more suggestions.

  • put chicken wire down in front of the fence. They don't like the feel of wire under their feet and are unlikely to launch skywards from it. If it's chain link, they're probably climbing it so putting plastic paneling in front of it so they can't climb should help.

  • Dogs belong inside..so do that, bring them in and then train the dog to stay INSIDE the fence when he goes out for a pee.
