When did/will you start letting kids play video games?

dd is almost four and i got her one, but she has mastered her games and is bored. and no, i don't let her play 24/7! she's moved onto my DS, but mario is a little hard for her. anyway, when did yours start playing?

  • We don't have a game system but will occasionally allow them to play on my sister's Wii. They are 7 & 3 (youngest is 1 and he grabs a tv/vcr/dvd remote & "plays" too). Our boys are pretty rowdy, competetive and all have addictive type personalites so we have decided we will not contribute to that by getting our own game system.

  • My son was four and I regret it. I won't say why but I wish we had waited til he was older to start playing. It's just a personal opinion, not a general one.

  • My kids got a Wii last year.... my DS was 3 & DD 6.... she isn't that interested, but my DS loves the Cars game. He rocks at it too.

  • We got him a smart cycle when he was 4. No one here plays them and no one we know really does so he doesn't have much interest. I guess when he starts asking for real ones we might buy them, but since we would only allow it in the living room, playyying time would be limited.

  • My kids were allowed when they were both interested and were able to handle the responsibility of playing with expensive games.

  • DS and DD got a ds to SHARE last sumer, ds was 5 and dd was 7. They didnt play it all the time, cause they have lots of interests, and would rather be outside(phewwhh!!) Then in the fall DH got given a PS2 and a bunch of games, so ds will play those sometimes, but not if its nice outside, if all homework had been done etc. They arnt addicts lol

  • My son was about 4 when we finally got an Xbox. I let him play if he deserves it.
