$100 or more at the gas tanks?

I was listening to a local radio station (from Greensboro, NC) the other morning, and they were asking for callers who had spent $100 to fill up their gas tanks. I was surprised at the callers who had. One lady had spent right over $170 to fill up!!! That would buy me two weeks worth of groceries!! My $50 fill up doesn't sound so bad after that. I have to use premium which is $3.99 the last time I filled up this week.
Who here (or SO) has spent $1oo, what do you drive, and where do you live?

  • Not me, I bought a car that woudln't cost me an arm and a leg at the gas pump. I have a 12 gallon tank and we haven't even hit $50 for a full tank and that can last me for 2 weeks.

  • Not me, but my friend has a Durango and he pays $125 at each fill up. Now what alot of people might not mention is those tanks are larger then some cars. So my friends $125 fill up lasts him 2 weeks.

  • Yeah, the callers drove big vehicles with larger tanks. They only got between 9 and 11 mpg. It still is TERRIBLE to have to pay that!!!

  • My work vehicle costs about $120 to fill up full from empty - it's a 33 gallon tank. And a full tank gets me 3 days of work. Thankfully I have a 40 gallon allowance from work not matter the price per gallon! My family vehicle costs about $60 to fill up full - it's a 15 gallon tank.

  • I've been close once. We drive a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2011 Durango. I get 20 miles to the galllon on both. Now I won't let them get under a quarter tank.

  • My little 4 cylinder car was just under $70 last time (4.19 that day, it's since dropped to about 4.09). If I had an SUV or pick up, it would've been at least half again over, so anyone here with a larger car than mine has been paying over $100 for several weeks.
