20 month old-- runny nose, slight cough... any suggestions?

My 20 month old son has a very runny nose and a slight cough. He seems miserable most of the day and has trouble sleeping because of his congestion. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do for him to nip this in the bud before it gets worse? Or should I just wait and take him to the doctor Monday if he isn't any better? There isn't any kind OTC cold meds that he can have at his age, is there?

  • OTC drugs are available for any age. The symptoms could indicate a variety of conditions. Your doctor might treat your son's symptoms not going into what could have really caused them. There are many drugs at the drug store. Just tell the pharmacist the symptoms and he/she would provide you with a product that meet your needs. One suggestion is for you to stop giving milk to your son while he is getting better. For some reason milk increases the production of mucus. Hope your LO gets well soon.
