  • Well, I think most boy and parents can agree on things like match box cars, blocks like legos (a boy can never have to many legos IME), camping/adventure type stuff (flash light compass, water bottle). The 100% safe route if of course a gift card... So you know what kind of stuff the child likes?

  • i like to give books, we used to have a Borders in our town with bargain table and I could find the most amazing books for like $5!

A soccer ball can also be had for a six year old in that price range, look in sporting goods. A beach towel is good, since summer is coming up.

  • Pokemon is popular with my 6 year old. We went to a party today and ds picked the gift for his friend who turned 6...a stuffed Pokemon that turns into a Pokeball, along with a pack of Pokemon cards. Hot Wheels and Legos are always good, too.

  • Give a game like Trouble or Blokus. Travel Blokus is great (actually better than the full size version ) and like $9.99 at Target.
