How do I insulate a room?

We recently moved into a house and it has a bonus room, that use to be a car port and there is no insulation in this room. We (SO and I ) want it to be our room but are afraid this winter it may be too cold. We want it to be our bedroom so that our boys (ages 11 and 12) can have their own rooms. Three of the walls are brick (no sheetrock)

  • You really do want to frame out the three walls that are brick and then put up insulation and then drywall. It is going to be your best bet. You can blow in insulation but it is not an easy chore and can be messy if you do not know what you are doing.

  • tear the walls out and put in insulation then replace the sheetrock

  • If the room is big enough, you may want to frame in the three walls. Then you can use insulation or spray insulation and sheet rock. It would definitely make it warm but it really depends on the amount of room and money you have to spend.

  • I would spend the money and have the walls redone with insulation inside.
