What is a good hotel to stay in when visiting the railroad in Lancaster County PA

We will be visiting the Strasburg Railroad station for Thomas the train event and Dutch wonderland. What are some good hotels to stay in? What are some fun activities to do in the area? i wasn't sure if we should stay in a hotel that is very close but isn't rated very high or a nice hotel further away (more money of course) that has a full kitchen.

  • I provided a link to 2 vacation homes (run by the same person). Their prices are a little cheaper than most for that area plus the owner (Diane) has an intimate knowledge of the Amish (she used to be a midwife serving the Amish community). She can definitely point you in the direction that you want to go!

Try visiting the corn maze (we liked Maize Qwest) while you are there; it's fantastic. http://www.mazefunpark.com/attractions/cornmaze.php

If you like theater/plays, try out the Sight & Sound Theatre - awesome!

Of course, there is always Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse that are nice to see (if you like learning about the Amish).
