How to stop a burn from stinging?

i burned myself about 2 hrs ago and the stinging is almost unbearable. the only thing i can do is soak my hand in cold water to make it stop. i never had the burning feeling last this long. any ideas?

  • Have you tried aloe? If you have an aloe plant break some off and rub that on the burn, otherwise aloe vera gel (like used on sunburns) would be good to use as well. I hope the pain goes away soon!!

  • sent dh to the store for burn cream/ aloe and he came home with neoporin (sp?)... bless his heart but it didnt work... ugh!

  • Try putting mustard on it. Sounds weird but it works.

  • no it won't work... any thing petroleum based will hold the heat in. The neosporin is only good if the blister has popped.

  • tried mustard and that was TERRIBLE. i finally broke down and went to the store myself to find aloe vera. still painful but much more tolerable.
