What's the best way to store brown sugar so it won't get so hard?

  • I have a little ceramic bear that I bought from the grocery store that goes in the brown sugar to keep it moist. Or put a slice of bread on top.

  • an airtight container would be what i would suggest (DUH, AngryBob), but if you already have hard brown sugar, put it in an airtight container with an apple half for a day. the sugar will soak up the moisture from the apple.

  • In a pinch, I've stored mine in an airtight container with a papertowel soaked in water then squeezed out just enough so that it's not dripping. It kept the brown sugar from going hard for several months in our camper.

  • A slice of bread in the airtight container will keep the sugar soft.
