Are there any food products absolutely will not buy generic or store brand?

I will never buy chicken other than foster farms or tyson. Store brands to me just taste gross. What products do you refuse to buy in generic?

  • Mayo-I will only eat Hellmans. Everything else tastes like crap. I don't mind buying most things generic at Aldis (except meat, I get that at Wal-Mart along with the things I can't find at Aldis).

  • Has to be name brand:
    chicken nuggets-tyson
Mac and cheese (boxed)-kraft or velveeta or Aunt Annes

Everything else has at least one store brand that taste good enough. We have SO many grocery stores around here!!

  • Ketchup must be Hunts
Mt Dew/Dr Pepper - any other pop is debatable (not that we drink much anyway)
pads/tampons must be Always & Tampax
Ranch dressing must be Hidden Valley
Miracle Whip - no generic is the same
Baked beans have to be Bush's

I know there are more but can't think of what else...

  • There isn't anything that I won't at least try generic or store brand.

  • I will only buy Helman's mayo and Miracle Whip and Hidden Valley ranch, the generics just aren't the same. I can't even stand Kraft's mayo or salad dressings because they just taste off to me.

  • Hubby has to have Pepsi ... store brands are nasty to him.
MIL prefers Canada Dry over ANY other ginger ale.
Our mayo MUST be Kraft Mayo (damn that has gotten $$$$ lately) ...
MIL has to have DUKES ... that is some seriously NASTY stuff
Butter has to be Blue Bonnet Light ... spreads so much easier and is actually the cheaper brand.
Sloppy joe sauce HAS to be Manwich ... the other stuff is just nasty.

I used to pickier about other foods, but with the ridiculously high prices, I can't afford to be that picky. Hubby and MIL get the name brand soda while I drink the cheap stuff (or sweetened iced tea ... I'm a Southern girl after all) unless mine (Dr. Pepper and Sundrop) are on sale.

  • I ONLY buy: Heinz for ketchup, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese dinners, Stouffer's frozen lasagnas

I strongly prefer: Ballpark hot dogs, but will buy Oscar Meyer, but will not buy store/off brand
    Jimmy Dean sausage
    WhiteWheat bread
Maxwell House 1/2 caff, but will happily buy other coffees, just not for half caff
Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and Schwepps for sodas, but will buy cokes on some occasions by price or availability, or store brand GA
Lea & Perrins (sp??) Worcestershire sauce

I buck the trend and prefer these store-brands:
Kroger "GoGurt", b/c it doesn't have red dye
Food Lion block medium cheddar cheese (and will get Kroger brand, but will NOT get WalMart - after those two I go to Kraft!)
Sams brand butter, milk, half & half

Offhand, that's all I think of...
