Embarrassing question about poop adult content

I eat enough fiber. I actually usually even eat more than the recommended daily amount, because I eat a lot of whole grains and fruits and vegetables. I also usually get enough water. Not every day, but most days I get at least the 8 glasses.

Why do I still deal with constipation? Not always, but an awful lot. I'm pretty "regular", but I still deal with small, hard stools, and on the days I don't have small hard ones I have large hard ones that exacerbate the hemorrhoids I got during my pregnancy with my son. I've tried psyllium fiber supplements and it didn't help, just made me go 3 days without a BM and when it came it was gummy. I'm sorry for the visual.

What am I doing wrong?

  • Take a daily probiotic to aid in digestion. Drink lots of fluids.

  • Eating too much fiber can cause it. Slow it down.

  • Too much iron can cause that too.

  • Hmm... I'm not taking supplements and I've been tracking my nutrition online and I'm not even getting the recommended daily amount of iron, much less excessive. I don't eat a whole lot of red meat either. This is so confusing :(

  • Take Metamucil daily. I had the same problem with constipation until I had my gallbladder removed.
