Question about vaccinations and ear piercings.

I am 27 weeks pregnant with a daugther. I want to get her ears pierced. With my first daugther we did it after her first round of shots at 2 months, as suggested by her ped. Since then we have done an about face on the vaccination schedule and my kids are on a very delayed vax. schedule so my question is, can i get her ears pierced on a delayed sched? Is there a certain vaccination she should have before i get them done? Id love some advice from the moms who DONT vaccinate as to if/when they pierced their daugthers ears. Thanks!!

  • it's reccomended not required, i don't think (like i said didn't get my dd's ears peirced and she's almost 5) anyways i would think they reccomend the tetanus shot b/c when you get your ears pierced they jab a foreign metal object into your flesh

  • In some cultures ear piercing is done when the child is a newborn. But I guess it makes sense about the tetnus, but at the same time, the equipment and earings are sterille. Who knows

  • I don't agree with infant ear piercing, but I will tell you this. I advise anyone, of any age, getting anything pierced, to go to a licensed piercer who uses a needle, not a gun. Professional piercers do not require proof of immunization. I took DD when she was 4, and they wanted her birth certificate and MY ID. A friends sister took her 6 mo old to the same piercer that I took DD to, and again, BC and mom's ID was all that was required.

  • i didnt ask about a vaccination requirement by a piercer. I took my daugther to the mall and they required nothing what so ever.
