  • the amount of oil we use is rediculous. do we really need diamond jewelry, cars, business, any of that!?

Seriously? You want to get rid of jewelry (admittedly a luxury), cars, business? Ummm if you do that then you would be putting millions of people out of work, yourself included if you work, or at least your partner.

If we only need warmth, food and water, where do you propose that comes from and who is paying for it if no one is working? Let's see for warmth I'm guessing fires so everyone would need to cut their own wood with what? No businesses to make tools. Food? You will have raise it all yourself, or with friends, and butcher, process it...oh wait no electricity or tools for that either. Where will you get your water? From a stream? Ooops, not everyone lives near one.

And if no one is working who is paying the taxes to support the military or any goods and services the gov't might be providing?

  • Newsflash...you can't drink ocean water unless you have a way to desalinate it! Also, what are you going to use to cut the meat up so you can eat it? Are you going back to sharp rocks? And you're going to start fires rubbing twigs together? What are you going to do for clothes? Building furniture? Sickness?

Also, remember, life expectancy back in the stone age (which is the time frame you are talking about) was maybe 30 if you were very lucky!

  • what are we going to do to fix this? what can we as americans do? Nothing our parents aka the government , feed us b.s everyday so no matter what we try to do its up to them anyway.

what if money/all debt records were burned what would happen? Some how they would make us, Americans, pay for it. There would be no good coming out that happening especially since we are funding our military and other countries.

is going back to trading goods for services even be an option? Hope not, there would be riots because not every one has goods and services. Paper money is more flexible.

  • Whatever. I'd rather wars be fought how they are NOW then how they were when things were 'simple'. When people lived in mud houses. I'd rather my husband wear body armour and carry a damned gun then a bow and arrow or a shield. Some luxuries are a bit ridiculous, but, to totally do away with them would do away with jobs.
Oh, and health care. Do you really want to go back to the health care of the time of mud houses, too? You can if you want to, I don't. I'm very content with being able to take my meds for bipolar, hypothyroid, arthritis, migraines and high blood pressure. I'm happy being able to get surgeries in clean environments as to cut down on the risk of death and infection, and to get the IV antibiotics to further that. And I am totally thrilled that we can WORK for what we need. People progress, we are meant to. We are not meant to regress.

  • OP---

The answer is easy....vote for Obama!! Yes, you see, if he's given another 4 years to "fix Bush's mess" that he unwittingly inherited, we'll all be living in the land of rainbows and butterflies!!

For those who can't read tone on the internet, the above was pure sarcasm! LOL :o)
