Any tips on how to make renting a car for the weekend cheaper?

I don't have AAA but my inlaws do. Don't know if that would help but any other tips from you money savvy moms would be awesome thanks

  • Keep your mileage down, and only have one driver. If you register more than one driver you have to pay an extra fee.

  • There are TONS of coupons and coupon codes online. Just google car rental coupons- you will be amazed what you can find!

  • Bundle, when I fly I can generally get a car added on for $30 or so for the whole weekend. Airlines and all those travel sites have deal like this. I also don't upgrade.

  • If you have USAA as your insurance, some car rental companies will rent their cars to you at a discount. You also are automatically insured, your spouse will be added without an extra fee, and they don't charge the 20-24 age.
