Does anyone know of a good online source for info about islam?

I find myself curious about different topics from time to time, and now I am wondering about Islam. I live in the US and am not really sure where to start. I live in a very rural area and there literally isn't a mosque within 300 miles. If you are/know about islam, let me know if i can ask ignorant questions without judgement! Thanks!

  • Sacred Texts' Islam page has multiple versions of the Quran in different languages, plus other texts that are supplimental about the history and culture surrounding them.

  • Islam is a religion that has a special place in my heart. So if you have any questions I can try to answer them. I don't claim to have all the answers, but I know a little bit, and anything I don't know I can find for you. If you like reading, I can suggest a few books, too - like A World Without Islam and Islam in the Modern World: Challenged by the West, Threatened by Fundamentalism, Keeping Faith with Tradition. Anything by Karen Armstrong is great, too - she has a few books that compare the Abrahamic faiths, in terms of history and so forth, and some that are specific to one religion, like Christianity or Islam. I adore her. And the for dummies or idiot's guides are really good and simple. There are groups in here, too, that have Muslims who would be willing to discuss their faith. I know one member in particular who always gives wonderful answers to questions. I adore her as well, lol. (will post online sources next)

  • You can laugh at me for this one, but it is the truth. Go to a Christian site like CBN. They downtalk Muslims so bad yet have a ton of links to anything regarding Islam.

Most of those links are biased, written by Christian extremists, using twisted, out of context passages from the Quran to try and make it say things it doesn't. There are several people who try to use those in the P&CE section.

  • I apologize turtidov, i should have been more specific.  I am looking into the religion of islam, and wish to learn about it.  I am not interested in self-serving biased opinion, if i wanted that i could turn on fox news.  I certainly hope you are not christian, because you went against your own faith by judging others, bearing false witness, and extreme rudeness which i am sure is at least frowned upon.  I appriciate your opinion, but i wish to learn facts.  I can imagine that muslims hate you, i would not like someone that called me a rapist.  Before you judge another person, perhaps you should remove the beam from your own eye and read the bible some time.
