Do you serve dessert?

When I was a kid my mom gave us dessert a couple times a week. Usually it was something like applesauce with cinnamon...Yes we thought that was dessert...Otherwise it was always homemade. I give my kids dessert maybe once a week. How often do you serve dessert?

  • Almost every night actually. When I cook dinner I make a main course, and always dessert, sometimes they also get an appetizer. Our desserts are usually like you described your mom gave you, apple sauce, yogurt with fresh fruit cut up, fruit cups, watermelon, homemade parfait with granola, homemade granola itself, and every so often I make brownies, cakes or real bad for you but omg gotta have it stuff.

  • once or twice a week. I make DD fruit sorbet and she LOVES them! All it is s fresh fruit, sugar & a little water if necessary. Throw it in the ice cream maker & whalla....healthy-fresh frozen treats! I made Raspberry this last time, it is really...very....very...good. I think i will do mango next....

If i know she ate super healthy that day, she can have desert. Even if i don't have any sorbet, she can have a cookie here & there. If she has had too much sugar already for the day, then no....she cannot have desert.

  • To me fresh fruit can be breakfast or lunch in my house and applesauce or yogurt is a snack. So, what I consider dessert is more sweet stuff like baked goodies, I love baking but don't do it often, or ice-cream and maybe candy. I try to keep the sweets to a minimum but, of coarse, with all the candy they got for Easter I think they get them a couple times a week now.

I made something awesome a couple weeks ago y'all would probably like, my boys sure did and keep asking me to make it again. Real simple, take two or three apples, cut the skin off, and cut around the core, cut chunks into about an inch, put in a small pot with a little sugar, cinnamon, and butter, let cook down for a couple minutes while stirring some. So, yummy, soft, crisp in the middle, sweet, love cinnamon, and depending on what type of apple you use it could taste tart if you choose! I think it's similar to apple pie filling.

  • I guess I should add that my desserts are a lot like my mom's: fresh fruit,

  • Every Sunday with Sunday dinner unless I bought something like a freshed baked cake or cookies from the store which I normally do.

  • every night... sometimes it is fruit or apple sauce, sometimes it's yogurt, sometimes it's ice ream, sometimes it's trail mix.... They get something every night, as long as they ate a good dinner, it's just not always cookies or ice-cream.

  • If you count fruit, rather frequently. If you're only counting sweets, once a month at the most.
