What's the best dinner you've ever eaten when you went to someone else's house?

I'm trying to get an idea on what to make for some guests this weekend.

  • It was on Christmas Eve, so of course it was all good, but the best part was the yellow squash, it was creamed, and seasoned to the point that it tasted better than the sweet potato casserole sitting right next to it!!

  • Pretty much all of my favorite meals have been at our pastor's house - his wife is the. most. amazing cook. ! Anyway, one time she made sweet & sour meatballs, another time they made a dry rub for pork loin and grilled that, they always have some steamed veggies & a salad "bar" (a veggie tray of salad toppings), she makes this bread that she's famous for but I wouldn't have any clue how she makes it - it's like a pull-apart loaf...cheesy potatoes are quite common, or a baked mashed potato casserole (she mashes real potatoes and stirs in loaded baked potato toppings - bacon bits, onions, cheese, sour cream, etc, and bakes til it's crusty and melty).
