  • It is not a good idea because baby's gut is not mature enough yet. There is lots of research showing benefits for waiting until 6 months, and lots of research showing risks for starting too early. Why not just wait? It won't help baby sleep longer (lots of studies have shown thus). Lots of people will tell you that they gave cereal at a young age and their kid is "fine". How do you know your baby won't be one that it harms?

  • Can you? Yes. Give him a t-bone steak if you want. Should you? NOOOO!!

Babies need only breast milk/formula for the first 6 months. SIX months. Then just tasts of this and that if baby seems interested in food, but the best first foods are things like soft ripe banana, mashed up, or crushed up pawpaw or avacado. Baby cereal is difficult to digest, it is iron fortified so that can cause constipation (and all the screaming and pain that goes along with abdominal discomfort). Don't start Baby on cereal until he or she is at least a year (or two) old.

Also all food should be given on a spoon so it can mix with saliva in the mouth before being swallowed. Only breastmilk/formula should be swallowed and doesn't need to be mixed with saliva before being swallowed. If baby just pushes food from a spoon straight out of his mouth with his tongue, he is too young for solid foods. Stick to b'milk.

  • can you yes, should you no. their bellys arent mature enough for it yet. you should wait until 6 months before starting cereal and they are sitting up on their own. If given early it can give constipation (which is very painful to baby, especially rice cereal), among other digestive issues.. it can also cause diabetes problems, and weight issues.

  • Waiting a year or two is too much. Six months is enough time to wait, but you can try and see now. Mix it in with the formula/breastmilk and see.
