How many dirty diapers should my two week old have?

she poops about 2-3 times a day. and pees around 10 or more a day. is this normal?

  • We pretend to know that babies should have a BM right after feedings so your 2 wk old baby seems OK.

  • yes thats pretty normal - if she's breastfed she should actually be pooping more - like 4 times or more a day

  • It depends if she's on formula or breast, I breast fed for 2 months and almost every nappy change was after every feed, so roughly every 3 hours! But not that we've changed to formula he poops once maybe twice a day.

  • In EBF babies, you are looking for 6-8 diaper changes in a 24 hour period.

  • Also, if she's EBF, keep in mind that after about 3-6 weeks, their bowel habits CAN change. They don't always, but an EBF baby over that age can safely go up to about 20 days without a bowel movement, as long as when she DOES go, the stool is not dry, hard, or pellet like.
