Unemployment question

Dh works through a temp. agency for one of the factories that makes parts for Toyota. Right now they are working 3 days and off for 11 days. He filed for unemployment over 2 weeks ago and has reported what he and hasn't worked every week. But we still haven't gotten his debit card (in IN they send you a debit card). I don't know anything about unemployment or how it works. Does it usually tkae this long? He said they told him he should get the card 10 days after his first file date, which has been over 2 weeks now. He said he tried to call the umeployment office but just got ran around through automated things and never had the option of talking to a person.

  • He better go to the Unemployment Office in person. If somethings is wrong with the application they will hold you responsible and cut benefits. Go ASAP.

  • Has he been approved officially? You should get a letter in the mail saying you have been approved and just after that a card will come in the mail. I would go to the website and see if theres a way to see if any money has been dispersed. In NC we can track all of that. He may have to go down to the unemployment office otherwise.

  • In Texas he would get a letter in the mail first. As frustrating as it may be, have him call the automated system--there may be a choice hidden in there for a status update on his filing. Good luck!
