  • I took a birth class, got a hospital tour... I wish that I had taken a breastfeeding class... I had so much trouble with breastfeeding that I wasn't prepared for. Of course, the problems I had were rare and probably wouldn't have been covered in the class

  • winged it. My first labor/delivery I had 4 people in the room with me for support and it was awesome. My second, we didn't have a babysitter so my husband was watching our toddler (he was in the room with us until we finally found someone who could watch him while I pushed) I hated that. My advice, if you wing it make sure your support person/people are totally focused on YOU

  • I took the classes, but less for me and more for my absolutely clueless DH. If your SO is going to be there for the birth, I really suggest going and bringing him with you. I also signed us up for the baby care classes, again, for DH's sake (I had so many years of babysitting under my belt that I wasn't worried about baby care)
