  • sleep when the baby sleeps, worry about cleaning/household stuff later. sleep is important to a new mom! also, don't rush his/her growth.. milestones come when they come and they grow really fast :)

  • Say goodbye to the life you know..... but, you get a whole new one and after some adjustment, its great:) No one can prepare new parents for the change.

  • Never take your anger out on the child. Take a breather, and walk out of the room if you feel like you are losing control. Don't ever be afraid to ask for help if you need it!

  • To remind yourself how short the baby time is, even when it seems to last forever. It won't take long before they are running down the road to school and you will wonder where that baby went!

  • my sister gave me this advice yesterday. i have a 9 month old and last night i went out to hooters with some girl friends. she told me it was good that i was going out. when she had her kids (who are teenagers now) her life became just them and only them. she had no friends and regrets not making time for herself to still be herself and go out sometimes and have fun. it does not make you a bad mom to go out and just have fun 2, 3, even 4 times a month. it will keep you sane and grounded.

  • Ask for help even if you don't need it. Those few minutes are great for a nap.

when you think that another new mom has it all together and you feel insecure, keep in mind that the exact same thing is going thru her head about you.

When you get frustrated, it IS ok to leave the room and let them cry for a minute until you can get control.

The house does NOT have to be picked up each day just because you are home all day. Raising a baby is hard work and takes a LOT of time. Don't be too hard on yourself. If at the end of the day, you are all fed and clean, that is all that matters.
