  • The crate is not supposed to be punishment. It is supposed to be his den. He is to have enough room to stand up, turn around and lay down and that's it. You take him out to feed him, put him back in, and in twenty minutes you take him outside. If he doesn't go... back to the crate for another twenty minutes.... you do this over and over until he gets the idea. Dogs will not go to the bathroom where they sleep

  • Try feeding on a schedule if you don't already and read up on crate training. Good Luck

  • You are suppose to put him in there before he poops and pees, so he will learn to control it, keep him there for long periods of time and take him outside when you take him out of the crate, this is not to be use as punishment only , they do not poop and pee where they sleep and live.

  • A crate to put him in is your best bet.

  • Yes,it is why u r having a problem now. U can retrain him the way u want him to behave or invest in one of those mats. I know the ones u r talking about.
