What would you do if.............................

you bought a house and then found $42,000.00 in it?
Me, I would keep it. Once I bought the house, what was left was part of the house. IMO.

  • I would keep it as anything in that house is mine after the house changed hands legally.

  • I would be afraid to keep it. The guilt of keeping something that obviously did not belong to me would send me into a state of distress and eventually I would die from a stress related illness. I would give it back because i feel it's the right thing to do, even if we really need it. Not to mention. . . . Karma!

  • To be honest. I would like to say I would search the ends of the world to give it back. I am generally a honest and good natured person. BUT --- DH was out of work for over 2 yrs we went through all our savings, have 3 kids to put through college the list goes on...I would have kept it....DH would probably made me look for the family owners, for fear they would come looking for it.

So yeah... we would have given it back :-(

  • They did not bring it with them when they moved out. So why should I give it back?

    I'd still keep it.

  • I wouldn't keep it. I would feel too guilty. Even if nobody ever found out , I would not be able to enjoy the money or anything I bought with it. If I had not earned it and I was not a family member, it does NOT belong to can you say you could live with yourself, knowing you didnt earn it? .It would be like stealing.
