Natural Snake Deterrents

What are some of the things you have used that have really worked?

It needs to be safe for animals b/c we have cats, rabbits and groundhogs as frequent visitors to our yard. Plus we have a dog.

Thanks!!!

  • oh, I was going to say I like to keep my snakes to keep rodents away, but you obviously want to keep yours.
Snakes live in places where they can hide (wood piles, under porches/sheds, rocks, etc) If you want to get rid of them you can just get rid of all the places where they would hide. Or just kill them when you see them

  • I've always heard that snakes do not like a particular type of gourd vine that you can plant around your yard and house, but I have no idea how true that is.

  • Thanks for the answers ...

I hate having to kill them because they really aren't doing anything wrong ... they are just black snakes ... but I can't risk them biting our dog or us. I know they aren't poisonous but the bites are still painful and could get infected.

  • Sulfur and moth balls just throw them out in your yard. If you have little one make sure you don't throw them in view.
