When can you switch your baby to 2nd stage foods?

My son is 6mos now, and I want to be sure it's ok for him to start eating meats, new fruit mixtures and so on, also what about whole grain foods and oatmeal or barley cereal?

  • As long as he has tried the single foods and has done alright you can move on to stage 2. With the other grain cereals try them singally first and then if all is alright start the mixture ones.

  • just make sure that you only introduce one new food at a time and you wait 2-3 days to see if there is an allergic reaction.

  • you should start nd stage foods when your baby is an independent sitter and doesnt need to be supported, finger foods start when the baby starts to crawl
