  • How long ago did this happen? I don't see why you couldn't help her as long as she has given you permission.

  • As a sister you can offer to assist her anyway she needs you to. Ask her what she would like for you to do.

  • As long as the child is an adult, go for it. However, looking for a minor child can be a problem. It can be very confusing and disturbing for a child (especially a teen) to be suddenly faced with another parent. Teens are usually trying to establish their own identity and finding out that they are adopted at that time makes that process very difficult. If the a-parents have been open about the child being adopted, then finding the child will be a much easier thing for the child emotionally. (That's why I'm soooo fond of open adoptions.) But as long as the child is now an adult, absolutely help her.

  • If the child is now an adult, and you have 100% blessings from your sister, then I think you are being a great sister. ONLY if she has given her consent...she does not need a surprise, reunion is full of raw emotions at time, and must be done with the people whom wish to be reunited....Many Blessings and luck being sent your way!
