  • Under six I used the gummy flintstones and over six I used the chewables. My 8 yr old is a little on the heavy side, so I give her two in the winter time and one in the summer. My 6 yr old can't swallow vitamin D (I bulk up on this big time in the winter - keeps them from getting the flu!) so she takes 2 chewables yr round. My oldest gets 2 chewables and 2 vitamin D's.

  • OTC vitamins are not recommend until 24 months. if your child needs an additional supplement, your doctor will tell you very specifically what it is. Vitamins, even children's, are packed with stuff. chances are, it may make the child sick in some way.

  • I don't give vitamins. I just make sure I feed the healthiest foods I can and offer a good variety. Getting what you need through foods are better than using vitamins because the vitamins are used more efficiently by the body.

  • Your pediatrician will tell you if your kid needs them. They specifically told me that my son did not need them, 2 of my best friends use the same doc & both kids had to start taking vitamins. Guess it depends on their height, weight, any health issues they may have

  • I started mine when he was one. He still takes the chewable like gummy vitamines. I buy them from sams club. He won't take the flinstones unless they are gummy.

  • I don't give vitamins because they are useless. However, if you really want some, ask your pedi for a script for some.
