Could you help my 7 y/o son with a school project? He already interviewed me but I am too young for the second part. His Granny said she would answer but she keeps putting him off and it's finally due this week. Many thanks in advance!

  • Games--Hide and Seek
    Transportation--No car seats
    Communicaiton--Party lines--Calls went through an operator in a building in town. Everyone knew them and she knew everyone.
    Chores--On Monday when I came home from school I had to do the ironing. Monday was always laundry day.
    Holiday--Memorial day was very important. The veterans put on their uniforms and the kids and families met at the firestation and paraded to the cemetery. The week before everyone decoated the graves.

  • Girls wore dresses to school every day. If it was cold you put on a pair of trousers under your dress but took them off as soon as you got to school. Also we walked to school every day no matter the weather. We said the pledge of allegiance everyday and also a prayer. On Wednesday mornings we went to a local church for "release time" (bible school activities).
