Parents of mixed race children...what races are you and your dh/so, and have you ever gotten any reaction for having mixed race children?

I don't mean this question to be controversial at all, especially having mixed race children myself. I am honestly just wondering how far we have progressed.

In our family, I am white, he is Japanese, and we have never gotten any reaction other than "where did your oldest come from" since the child is stark blonde. LOL

  • My DH was mexican, I'm white. I've never received any comments, but then we live in California - it's a pretty common blend here.

  • I am white and my dh is black. We are stared at as if we are aliens and have even been called trash. I try not to pay too much attention or react to any of it. I don't want to drop to their level especially not in front of our kids.

  • Sorry you have had that experience. It is sad people still think like that.

  • im hispanic and my daughters father is black. when we're all together the strongest reaction comes from hispanic men. they look at me with disgust and confusion. other than that no real significant reactions.

when it's just me and my daughter i dont get these types of looks from anyone. (she is way darker than me since her dad is pretty dark). most people just smile at us because she is so goofy and sweet and is always making me laugh. we're bff's.

  • I'm Mexican/salvadorian and my SO is Japanese. Our dd looks exactly like him (fair skin, thin straight hair, Asian eyes) so no one believes she's my dd. I have been asked on a regular basis if I'm her nanny! Lol!! It used to piss me off but I'm so use to it that I just explain that she looks like daddy. The only thing about me she has is my big eyes, although hers are slanted and my lips because daddy has very full lips and I don't. That's it!! I'm very tan and have crazy thick, wavy, frizzy hair lol. I've never had negative comments, everyone thinks it's soo cool that she's half Japanese lol.

  • I'm white, my husband is mexican. We don't get stares or anything because in California, it happens all the time. But some of my family are a little less than happy with it. My mother called my husband a criminal when I first started dating him. He looks kinda like he use to be in a gang when he was younger, but hes a computer programmer, a total nerd, but a complete sweetheart. Then when I got pregnant she said "you know, your child isn't going to be able to get blood transfusions because hes half white and half mexican. He'll need to get blood transfusions from someone else who is half breed." What the hell is she even talking about. Shes embarrassed of me now. Its really just my mother that thinks I should be with a white man, she more thinks in colors rather than the actual human. Every white guy I dated she liked, even though they were jerks, I get with a nice mexican guy that treats me nice, and she hates him.
