  • I think it's a good idea to burp them until they can sit alone. The reason is that if you feed him and put him down on his back or tummy, it is much easier for those air bubbles to get trapped and cause pain or spitting up. Air bubbles rise to the top, and that's the idea of burping a baby.

  • When my daughter started sitting unassisted, she started burping on her own. That's when I stopped.
