Spin off question- which plane would you rather fly on?

One with pre- 9-11 security measures to board (metal detector, some uninvasive frisking) with current locked cockpit, and gun for the pilot.

One with current Security measures to board, (enhanced pat downs and all that) and current locked and gun cockpit practices.

Just curious which one would have more...please keep your answeres specific as to which one and why, and leave tangent debates for other questions.

Best answer will not reflect my opinion, just the majority choice.

  • Current security measures most definitely. If somebody manages to get onto a plane as may have happened with previous security measures then they have a chance to do serious harm to passengers even if they don't get into the cockpit.

  • You can't have a gun on a plane. A hole could cause a plane to lose pressure. I'm Ok with current security. I don't want a gun around me for any reason though.

  • I'll take B-
Reason being- A just protects the pilot and the possibility of purposely downing the plane which will do me little good if I am already dead-

  • There are guns on planes now...always one in the cockpit with the pilot...so that applies to both choices.

  • Very interesting question, OP-

I fly quite a bit and my husband travels by air multiple times a week.
We'll take B- no harm, no foul.

  • B is just an illusion of security as not all cargo is screened. and it's still possible for passengers to get weapons aboard, too.

  • I am sure we would all love to go back to Pre-911....but being realistic , I will take B.
I guess if you would flinch at being patted down or "groped" you probably should just stay home. :-)
