Are ANTIBIOTICS really okay when breastfeeding?

I went to see a doctor last weekend to have my right foot checked (wounded and with abscess) because I couldn't either walk and wear footwear properly, plus 'twas then painful. The doctor prescribed antibiotics and said it's alright for my baby.
Is it really okay that my baby is taking the medicine in me?? I'm confused and kinda worried because I have read that it's best not to take any medication when breastfeeding.

  • Some are, some aren't. You can call the nurse at your peds office and double check. They will know right away.

Usually, docs are pretty well-versed in what is okay and not, when they are prescribing to preg or BF mommies.
