I have a savings account. If I try to open a checking account, will my bank check ChexSystems?

My ex-husband and I have an outstanding negative balanceat another bank. I know for a fact my name is in ChexSystems. My current back did allow me to open a savings account regardless(or they diidn't check), but I don't want to raise any red flags and perhaps screw up my direct deposit.

  • Simba says he guesses that they "are all connected in the great circle of life banking."

    Basically, yeah, probably.

  • Good question - don't you have to have a mimimum deposit anyway?

  • Yes, most banks check ckexsystems. Some will allow you to open a checking account if you have a small blemish on your history.\
If they find out I dont think it will mess up your direct deposit because you do not owe that current bank anything.

  • I just asked my Hubby for you, he works at Wells Fargo..He says If they let you open a savings account it the same system, they would let you do a checking as well...and you can link them
