Do you make your own fabric softener?

I have a great recipe for laundry detergent, but I'm looking for a homemade fabric softener.

I will also need a great baby laundry detergent recipe in a few months. And ideas on that?

  • I don't "make" it persay, I just use vinegar on an old wash cloth in the dryer. If you've been using regular fabric softener, it will take a few cycles before all the residue it's left on your clothes is washed out, but after the 3rd or 4th wash you'll notice the vinegar working like it should.

  • Lucyloo, it's so easy! (Otherwise I wouldn't do it.)

    1 bar Ivory soap, grated
1 cup Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda
    1 cup Borax

    Mix well.

    Use 1-2 T per load.

  • What's emission baby batter? I've never heard of it... And is that for fabric softener or baby detergent? I'd think detergent, but I want to make sure...

  • 1 cup of Baking Soda
    1/2 Cup of Dawn
    1 Cup Water
1 emission OF baby batter (you may need 2 or 3 emissions depending on how soiled the fabric was to begin with) i think Lowencope would probably agree!

  • Oh, gosh! I win the goofy award. Didn't even waste my breath asking hubby about the emission of baby batter. I figured it out all by myself. Doesn't that give you high hopes about my baby's intelligence? ;D
