Business question????

I know you have to have a license to open up a business. Do you have to have one just to sell in your spare time on Etsy?

  • no..I don't believe so. Etsy is privately owned so you shouldnt fall under any state guidelines. It's like selling on ebay.

  • You don't need a license to sell things on Etsy.

  • You only need a license for things like a store front, or an in-home daycare of a certain size, not for Work at home businesses

  • I am going to sell on Etsy as well, and just as the others said, you do not need to have a business license. Good luck to you :)

  • You would only need the license if you want to sell under a business name...or if you'd want to have a Tax ID number or EIN number in order to purchase supplies wholesale.

  • In Chicago, you only need a business license if you rent a commercial space; you do not need one if you operate a business from a residential location
