How do I remove black sharpie from wall?

Today my 2 year old got ahold of a Sharpie and did some pretty awesome artwork on our walls.
Anyone have any tips on getting it off easily?

  • My friend's daughter did something similar and she was told to take the sharpie and go over the markings and while it's still wet wipe it off. It actually worked (I can't remember if it was 100% or not, but it made a huge difference)

  • I would try a magic eraser first
If that doesn't work try a dry erase marker over the top (sounds weird I know!) Start with just a little spot in case it doesn't work... but on white boards if someone writes with a permanent marker you can erase it with a dry erase marker... it takes it off some how!

  • I found this stuff at the Dollar Tree called Totally Awesome. It does live up to it's name. I used that with the Magic Eraser and it got most of it off. Still working on it. Thanks for the tips ladies.

  • Also try the totally awesome orange. We use that and vinegar to clean everything in my house.
