Can I substitute coconut oil for Crisco?

  • Absolutely! Coconut oil is not only tasty but soooooooooo healthy ... but you can't use it at high heat settings or you'll destroy its beneficial properties.

  • I would make a small batch as coconut oil has a much lower melting temp. That would be my only concern

  • yes and it's suppose to be a LOT healthier for your than crisco. :)

  • I'm not sure how that will work for fondant, to be honest - I like the idea but it doesn't have the same "properties" as Crisco...you can try it but don't be upset if you have to toss it & start over!

  • It worked really well and IMO made the consistency of the fondant better than when I used Crisco. Thanks to all who answered!!
