Summer school @ home

Good morning ladies! I would like to plan some study time in to our daily routine for the summer. I would love any thoughts you may have as to what we should be doing. Like review from this year, go ahead to the next grade or both. Also if anyone can share some good websites for work sheets and such. As well as workbooks that are good. My DD's are 8 and 10. Going in to 2nd and 5th grades. I also have a little guy who will be going to preschool in the fall.

  • is a free site with lots of great worksheets is a great site with free membership that has theme units designed for preschool-3rd grade, but could easily be review for your older child as well - I LOVE this one (c: is great for learning to read and early readers, great for your younger two has great math games for extra practice and you can put in the grade level you want to work on
Also, check into your local public library and see if they have a summer reading program, my kids loved ours and it's great for encouraging summer reading (c:

  • A great website for fun schoolwork review is Always Icecream (  My daughter has a membership and she loves playing around on the site.  It is designed for girls 7-12 and there is a great "Miniworld" where she can build and decorate a virtual home, create artwork and raise virtual pets.  She can also watch videos and interact with other Always Icecream girls.  And to do all of those activities, she needs "scoops" which she earns by playing educational games in math, science, language arts, music, typing and more - which is where the summer review comes in. It has worked well for us this summer!
There is no advertising on the site which is great because Ads can be distracting and I worry about their content sometimes.  You can check out a free trial at the main website
