My 12 yr dd has an abscessed tonsil.....

How many of you have had that happen to you or your kids??? I had never heard of it before. did you have a high fever ?? How long??? She just got back to school today. She'd been on antibiotics for3 days . I didn't think her fever was ever going to go down.

  • My sister had that happen to her. She had to have them removed when the infection cleared up. She was an adult and had a really hard time with it, I can't imagine how tough it is on your LO.

The thing that helped her the most was to gargle with salt water. I am not sure if that is an option, depends on how old your LO is. Hope she feels better soon.

  • I have an adult friend who has had that several times. When I was a kid, they took them out if you had problems, but they don't anymore and I really don't know why.. The salt water is good, or ask your doc for lidocaine viscous.

  • Not my kids, but I've had students with an abscess. The antibiotics seemed to clear things up.

  • My dd did a few years ago, she's now 12. She just complained of a sore throat for a few days, then had a fever. then her breath changed, I could smell the infection. They looked gross.
I few days on antibotic and she was fine.
