Preferred Tread Count Sheets 300, 400.....?

300 so far, tried 400 from Costco and that fell like paper. QVC northern nights seem OK ,they keep wearing out. I need sheets.

Where do you get them?

  • I get high count sheets (like a thousand) from e-bay. Much cheaper than stores. They last forever. I also like 100 percent cotton.

  • I know everyone gets hung up on thread count but I have personally found that some sheets with a high thread count feel like sandpaper, even after several washings.

My favorite sheets have only a 150 or 200 thread count but they are considered a "sateen" blend (though they are primarily cotton); they are so soft and have only improved with age and washings. I usually go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and do the touch test on the various samples they have displayed rather than look for specific thread count.
