How long is good for a play date?

my twins who are 7 love having playdates. I don't mind since their friends are very behaved and I like the moms.Is three hours too long or to short of a time for a play date? I think its perfect.

  • Two hours. About the same time as a movie. I don't want to be overwhelmed for hours on end when they get tired of each other and I don't want to pick up a cranky over tired kid who was tired of his friend an hour ago. I also don't want to be forced to socialize forever if I stay. Setting the time limit before I go or someone comes over is helpful. I just state what plans I have after so it is clear from the beginning I am not your babysitter for the rest of tge day.

  • Never really thought about it because there are so many kids in our neighborhood, they play on and off all day long sometimes. If it's a formal playdate, I agree with 3 hours, but don't mind longer if they're getting along and keeping busy.
