  • California rolls? OMG! I LOVE those!!

Maybe it's the rolls that use the raw fish ... something about the mercury levels maybe? Just grasping here but I'm curious about it now.

  • The biggest reason is the mercury levels. You can choose the types that have less in them. Here is a great resource!

  • because people like to restrict pregnant women for the fun of it. the fact is sushi chefs know what they are doing. women in japan, they've been eating sushi while pregnant for centuries. have your sushi, i did. a lot of women don't do their research. as long as it's a quality japanese restaurant and not the cheep stuff from a grocery store you'll be totally fine

  • Because, among other things, raw meat can have any number of parasites. Then there is all the mercury in fish. Sushi chefs aren't gods, they have no idea if there is something parasitic or otherwise dangerous in what they are preparing. The restrictions are not just made up conspiracies to deprive pregnant women of anything. I can't believe how many people think that. Those guidelines are around because people have actually gotten sick and worse from eating foods with no preparation, like in the case of cheeses and other dairy, no pasteurization. But it's a free country, you're an adult and you can do whatever you want.

  • You cannot control the mecury levels in fish, and yes back in the day Japaneese women ate sushi, but not now, because of pollution!

  • Do you also catch the fish yourself? If so, awesome. Otherwise, you don't know how old it is or how long it has been stored, or what kind of other things it was exposed to.

  • we've made sushi with fish we've caught (didnt taste too great) but now we only use boiled crab.
